Hannah is then sent to Scotland on an art acquisition trip for her job and she is gone for six weeks. Somehow, the two manage to survive without each other's company. Mostly, Tom hangs out with his guy friends, relying on them for advice and shop talk. As the weeks pass and Tom longs for Hannah's companionship, he comes to the realization that he loves her and he always has. He decides that he will immediately proclaim his love for her when she returns - not that they should get married, just "be together." But Hannah has a curve ball for Tom when she returns. While in Scotland, she was swept off her feet by handsome and wealthy Colin (Kevin McKidd), and the two are going to be married in a matter of weeks! Naturally, Tom is thrown for a loop, especially when Hannah asks him to be her Maid of Honor, much to the chagrin of Hannah's cousin, Melissa (Busy Phillips) who always thought she have that role. Tom determines to be the best Maid of Honor Hannah has ever seen and hopefully, win her from Colin in the process, all the while, Melissa does everything in her power to screw Tom up.
This movie is adorable. Now, I am not a rabid Patrick Dempsey fan like some, but I have really liked him as an actor since way back in the day when he was in Can't Buy Me Love. He is precious in this role and Monaghan is perfect as well. In fact, everyone really works well together, even Kathleen Quinlan, who plays Hannah's mom, quietly working in the background towards her daughter's happy ending with Tom as well. Made of Honor is one of those romantic comedies that you can watch over and over, sort of like Never Been Kissed or 13 Going On 30. It's short on the special features, having only a commentary, but there are a few more on the Blu-ray version. However, it's just a really fun movie with great acting, a fantastic musical score and a happy ending. Highly recommended.
