Once again, gentle Julie Barnes (Peggy Lipton), daring "Linc" Hayes (Clarence Williams III), and easy going Pete Cochran (Michael Cole) blast their way into incredible adventures of crime and intrigue in Paramount's Mod Squad: Season 2, Volume 1. Three flower children of the 60's are groomed as Captain Adam Greer's (Tige Andrews) special task force: the "Mod Squad" -- able to infiltrate the world of crime, bringing justice as unsuspected counterculture cops. Executive producers Danny Thomas and Aaron Spelling were able to address many social issues in this series such as abortion, espousal abuse, collegiate protest, child neglect, illiteracy, and slum lords.

Mod Squad: Season 2, Volume 1 boasts of many great episodes. However, my favorites include "Lisa" starring Carolyn Jones (The Addams Family) in the splendid role of Captain Greer's sister. This mysterious lady takes the team on a maze of intrigue as she winds her way through her multiple personalities leading to a most unusual climactic ending. In "Willie Poor Boy," the trio discover that a young suspect injured in a botched robbery is illiterate. They conquer his dependency to crime by teaching him how to read, and thus, creating a more honorable way of life. In "To Linc -- With Love," we'll find him shouting to the world that he's in love and has spent the greatest day of his life with a beautiful young mother who suddenly has to confront her past. "In This Corner - Sol Alert" exposes the horrors of the slum lord's neglect and parallels the loss of hope for tenants unable to free themselves from impossible living conditions. But the most enjoyable episode was "Never Give the Fuzz an Even Break" where a charming con artist takes the "Mod Squad" under his wing and teaches them the art of a bunco artist.

Mod Squad: Season 2, Volume 1 is thrilling entertainment for the entire family. These three undercover cops have a way of opening the door to crime with a sincere desire to right the wrongs and are determined to rehabilitate society. Plus, you'll have that extra bonus of sliding back through time to the 1960's when America experienced a great change to make life a better and happier place.
