A family of suburbanites is traveling across the desert, taking the back roads on a trek to Los Angles when their car breaks down. Now the seven family members and German Shepherds must survive in an old nuclear bomb testing range, but they aren't alone.
When the father of the group goes back to an old gas station to call for help, he learns of a family who is led by a crazy, wild man. This man abducted and raped a woman who bore several kids. Now the band of killers stalks all who enter their territory and kill without mercy.
The Hills Have Eyes is just one of the movies that helped earn Wes Craven his Master of Horror title. The cult classic will have the Carters (the LA-bound family) dropping like flies in increasingly brutal ways. In order to survive, the Carters must stop the inbred cannibals, but at what cost?
Unfortunately, Wes Craven's The Hills Have Eyes doesn't have any special features. I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it is always nice to have some sort of documentary, or maybe even the original theatrical trailers, but on the other hand -- this movie is from the 70's, so there might not be a lot of extra footage around from this cult-classics's original release. Either way -- I think at least having something (like a sneak peek) dealing with the new version would have been nice.
If you are a Wes Craven fan and you don't already have a copy of The Hills Have Eyes, then this wouldn't be a bad buy -- if you are hoping for some extras though, maybe you should look for the DVD release.
