In "Elementary School Musical," the boys notice that everyone around them spontaneously breaks out into song and dance and Stan, Cartman, Kyle and Kenny are starting to get fed up over it. When Stan feels he is starting to lose Wendy to the fad (and possibly the new boy leading the trend), he starts to wonder if the musical thing isn't as bad as he thought. South Park is known for its various songs, and while the show itself isn't a musical, this episode features quite a few fun songs.
Speaking of Wendy, while giving a oral presentation about the dangers of breast cancer, she gets fed up with Cartman's constant rudeness and decides to do something about it. She challenges him to a fight after school, but Cartman's cleverness allows him to sneak away from the fight time after time, while still attempting to maintain his reputation. After all, what could be worse than being beat up by a girl?
In another episode, "The China Probrem," Cartman recruits Butters to infiltrate PF Changs in order to learn what China's secret invasion plans are. The pair team up again in "Super Fun Time," when the class goes to a field trip and the two are tied together by the Buddy System.
Some of the more iconic episodes from the season include the two-parter "Pandemic" which makes fun of Cloverfield, "Major Boobage" that is an homage to Heavy Metal and "About Last Night..." which focuses on the outcome of the 2008 Presidential Election.
"Major Boobage" has a new craze taking over the town and Kenny falls victim to not only the new high, but also the strange hallucinations that accompany the act. But I think most interesting is "About Last Night..." where the cast had to throw together the episode in a few short hours because the show was scheduled to air the day after the election. In fact, this episode is so well put together, one of the special features covers the development of it. Other features include similarly in depth looks at "Super Fun Time" and "Major Boobage."
If you've been following the show so far, you won't be disappointed with this season. Though, I have to say, it starts off a little slow. I wasn't too impressed with the early episodes like "Britney's New Look," which focuses on Britney Spears.
