Four years ago, the Jonas Brothers burst on to the music scene, helped greatly by the association with the Disney Channel and the Disney movie Camp Rock. Now, the trio from New Jersey are one of the hottest tickets on the concert circuit, their popularity among tween girls on par with the Beatles craze that swept the nation during the 1960s. For those unable to see the band in concert (or for those that want to relive the experience), Walt Disney Pictures proudly presents Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience - Deluxe Extended Movie.

Beginning with Big Rob, the brothers' security specialist/driver/escort, awakening the boys early the morning of an upcoming concert, the movie "loosely" chronicles the activities leading up to the concert experience, including a musical segue in which the trio, stuck in traffic, decide to make a break for it, only to be recognized by teems of screaming fans and chased through the streets of New York (again, very reminiscent of some of the Beatles' videos). Once the concert experience begins, the 3D effects, available only on the Blu-ray version, are showcased. Wearing a pair of 3D glasses (four are included with the movie), viewers will see the concert arena come alive, often feeling as if they are a part of the crowd. The guys perform 15 or so songs, often with small behind-the-scenes moments between the performances. Also featured are guest appearances by both Demi Lovato (of Disney's Camp Rock fame) and country music sensation Taylor Swift.

While the 3D effects are well done and there are a few truly remarkable moments, I found that the transition between 2D and 3D (the behind-the-scenes moments are not in 3D) a bit bothersome, the result being a mild headache. For those not interested in the 3D effects, the packaging includes both a regular DVD version of the film and a digital copy for viewing on computers or personal media players. All three versions of the film include two bonus song performances not seen in theaters as well as a 15-minute documentary-style glimpse at the brothers' life on tour. In the end, while I still do not see the musical attraction, my two girls enjoyed the movie experience, being totally engrossed from start to finish. This is not surprising, as they are, after all, most assuredly and unapologetically the targeted demographic. For those households with fans of the Jonas Brothers, this is certainly a DVD that will be viewed time and again.
