For those who aren't familiar with the plots, here is a brief synopsis. The Terminator, featuring movie-star turned governor Arnold Schwarzenegger along with Linda Hamilton, has the robotic killer going back to the present (er... if the present was 1985) in order to stop a woman from conceiving a child that would one day lead a rebellion against machine-kind. But Sara Conner (the aforementioned future mother played by Hamilton) isn't alone. It seems her son has sent back a commando to help stop The Terminator.
Meanwhile, RoboCop takes place in a future, crime-ridden Detroit City. In this future, the police department is owned by a private technology company called Omni-Computer-Products (OCP) and because OCP has big plans for the most crime-heavy part of the city, they need to clean up the streets. When a good cop is murdered and mutilated by the city's crime lord, OCP rebuilds him. They make him faster, stronger and better armed. Now that RoboCop is on the job, he will do whatever it takes to clean up the streets, and when memories of his old life as Officer Murphy start coming back to him -- he will also do whatever he can to get revenge.
Unfortunately, neither disc is pack with special features. Besides previews for other Double Features from MGM, each movie comes with the film's original theatrical trailer, so you can go back and get the same first-glimpse of the metal-men that people from the 80's got.
Ultimately, I have mixed feelings about this particular product. While the package has two great films, there are hardly any special features on them and I know have a strong urge to see/buy the rest of the trilogies ... but of course, if I buy them in a trilogy set, I will have an extra copy of the originals. PsiBabe pointed it out to me the best way - this package isn't meant for the hardcore DVD/Movie collector. This is for the more casual viewer who won't have a problem not having the special features or the rest of the collections. Also it could be that this deal is focused on those purists out there who feel that the sequels weren't good and are only fans of the originals. Depending on what category you fall into, you may want to add this to your collection.
