What Rob Dyrdek, of Rob and Big fame, has done with his latest series is exactly how every twelve year old boy imagines their life when they get older. Rob has created a literal Fantasy Factory in which all of the action-packed fantasies can come true while he works on expanding his entrepreneur empire. A fully indoor skate park office with a foam pit, basketball courts, zip-line, and even an American Gladiator style tennis ball launcher all adorn his mega park of fun. Throughout the season, Rob regularly adds new fantasies as a reward for some of his workers at the office.
The cast of people that Rob has working at his factory are all really funny and way more cautious than Rob about trying the next wicked stunt. The rapping receptionist, Chanel, is quite cute and has a crush on young skateboard phenom Ryan Sheckler, but still has a dangerous side when she gets her chance to rap with their new Factory recording studio. Rob's cousin Drama is Rob's personal assistant and runs with Rob no matter what they do, even if that includes jumping a Rally car over 200 feet or diving into shark-infested waters! Every day seems to be a new adventure in the house of Dyrdek and for some reason, the part of the brain that loves watching episodes of Jackass lights up with every crazy new antic.
The DVD comes with two discs covering all ten episodes of Season One. There is commentary from the cast and crew, as well as numerous clips that couldn't make it into the show. The behind the scenes clips have a few duds as well as a few clips that I'm glad made it on the disc. While the features might need a bit more, the episodes are more than entertaining enough to make up for it.
Surprisingly, I liked Rob Dyrdek's Fantasy Factory: Season One. It is all in good fun and Rob Dydrek is a great entertainer, even if a few of his stunts are a little too dangerous for kids to watch. If you are a fan of the show, don't wait to pick up this set. If you are new to the series, take a chance and you might just find out you like some of Rob's record-breaking stunts too.
