Grey's Anatomy has become one of the most popular shows on TV in just a few short years. Soon to start their Sixth Season, Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Fifth Season is coming out on DVD now, just in time for you to catch up before the new season starts on September 24th.

Grey's Anatomy: Season Five starts out very dark. Everyone is upset because their ranking has dropped from 2 to 12, so they're not even considered a top tier teaching hospital anymore. This means that all traumas go to Mercy West first, so the staff is not only upset, but very bored as well. Everyone starts getting onto everyone else's nerves. To add to the chaos, there's a new doctor joining the crew. Doctor Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) is definitely an unconventional doctor. He just finished up a tour in the military, so his knowledge of trauma comes from working on the battleground with what he has available. His goal is to save the patient first, no matter what, but to also know which ones can be saved so that the most people can be saved overall. His triage skills will irritate some of the other doctors, but eventually they'll see the reasons for his ways. Christina (Sandra Oh), in particular, will become quite close to Owen.

There's also a new couple this season, a very unlikely couple. Dr. Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) has started dating Dr. Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh), Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) little sister. Mark is determined to hide the relationship from Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith as long as he can because he knows how much Derek is going to hate him for it. But really, Lexie and Sloan make a really good couple. They're years apart in age, but mentally they're just right for each other. Personally, I hope their relationship lasts for a long time! I love the way that they covered up Lexie's extra weight from her pregnancy in real life. It was perfect and quite humorous too.

Derek and Meredith are still together. Given how SO over it was supposedly at the end of Season Three, I'm surprised they managed to make it through Season Four, but they really are doing better now. I guess there's something to be said for that much stubbornness. Maybe they really will manage to make the relationship work for good finally.

It seems like Izzy (Katherine Heigl) has finally accepted Denny's (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) death and is ready to move on. She and Alex (Justin Chambers) finally get back together, but the happiness is very short. Not too long after that, Izzy starts seeing Denny again. We're not talking every now and then either. We're talking full on talking, touching, feeling, you name it! Something's really not right with Izzy, and her friends really need to figure it out soon. Unfortunately, as you know, on this show they're usually too busy with their own problems.

George (T.R. Knight) and Callie (Sara Ramirez) are both definitely dealing with their own problems. George is having a real crisis of faith in what he should be doing with his life and where he should be. After her divorce from George, Callie decided that maybe women were for her. Well, with Dr. Hahn (Brooke Smith) leaving her, she finds a new woman. Explaining her life choices to her parents isn't going to be easy!

As you can see, there's quite a lot going on in Season Five. To top it all off, they really left the season on a cliffhanger. There are not one, but 2 main characters on the brink of death. Personally, I can't wait to find out who survives and who's leaving the show. The DVD also gives you even more Grey's! There are deleted scenes, outtakes that are hilarious, an extended episode, and quite a bit more. With all the episodes and extras, you really need to go get Grey's Anatomy: The Complete Fifth Season today. You've got just enough time to catch up or review them all before the new season starts!
