A few months back, I saw a preview for Triangle and requested to review it immediately. It just looked like a normal horror movie, the exact kind of movie I just love. But I found out that Triangle is so much more than a typical horror movie! Just to let you know up front though, Triangle is not about the Bermuda Triangle.

Jess (Melissa George) is a young single mother. She heads out on day trip on a yacht, called Triangle, with her friend Greg (Michael Dorman) and a group of his friends that she's never met before. Sally (Rachael Carpani) and Downey (Henry Nixon) are a married couple that has known Greg for years. They bring Sally's friend Heather (Emma Lung) with them, of course to set her up with Greg. Sally doesn't really care for Jess from the beginning. She thinks that Jess isn't good enough for Greg. Victor (Liam Hemsworth) lives on the yacht with Greg. They're sailing along at a good speed, wind powered, when all of a sudden the wind just dies and they're sitting in a perfectly calm ocean, calm expect for the massive black cloud of lightening that is headed for them. This is definitely not a normal thunderstorm. Underneath it the sea is turbulent with huge waves. The storm causes the boat to capsize leaving them stranded in a once again suddenly calm ocean. Before too long though a cruise ship appears, but you can tell by looking at it that something is not right. The outside is rusty and metal grey. It doesn't look like any cruise ship I've seen in recent history. Jess knows something isn't right. She hesitates to get on, but really they have no other alternate unless they want to be stranded at sea even longer.

Once on board, things get even stranger. They discover they are aboard the Aeolus, which was new in the 1930's. There is no one around, but then someone drops some keys. When they get to the corridor to pick the keys up, they discover that it is Jess's keys that she had on the yacht with her, keys that should be at the bottom of the ocean by now. They know that someone else is on board with them because they hear them every now and then. Sally hopes that it is Heather, whom they haven't seen since the yacht capsized, but if it is Heather, why isn't she letting them know that she survived. They find a clock that has the wrong time, but for some reason Jess's watch has the same time as the clock that is wrong. Jess swears that she has been there before, that she knows the place. Now like any good horror movie, they decide to split up and explore. Of course that never goes well for anyone so this group is going to have to struggle to survive against the unknown killer.

Given that this is the Blu-ray version of the movie, the visual effects were even more stunning. I mean, don't you want your blood splatter in the highest definition that you can get? The audio is Dolby TrueHD, so you also get the screams in the highest quality sound that you're going to find with current technology. The only special feature is cast and crew interviews. It's short but interesting. I highly recommend that you watch it after you've seen the movie though. Otherwise you'll ruin the movie and you really don't want to do that!

Triangle is one of the most unique concepts that I have seen in a long time. I was particularly impressed that after watching it a second time, I still did not notice any continuity flaws. It's so very well written and executed that I do recommend you watch it at least twice, just to pick up on things that you probably didn't notice the first time through! I recommend this movie for anyone who likes their movies to make them think a bit. It is still a horror movie, but there's so much more to Triangle.
