Enter Calvin (Marlon Wayans) and Percy (SNL vet Tracy Morgan). Calvin, a tiny but tough jailbird who ruled the roost while there, has just been released from prison. Percy picks him up and they set out to pull off the biggest heist of their careers. The team up to steal a huge diamond on display at a jewelry store. Calvin hides in Percy's bag and sneaks his way into stealing the diamond. But the cops are soon hot on their tails and they have to ditch the stone... right into Vanessa's purse at a convenience store. To get it back, Calvin must pretend to be a baby abandoned on their door step. Hilarity ensues.
While the premise is fairly amusing, what killed me with laughter were Marlon Wayans' facial expressions. While he's trying to be a sweet infant, he plasters this smile on his face that looks somewhere in between constipation and a "please like me" look. Of course, it's pretty hard to be a good baby, all the while trying to retrieve the invaluable stone. Again, crazy moments abound.
The kink in the works is that the stone is not a nest egg for Calvin and Percy, but a way to pay off a mob boss named Walken (Chazz Palminteri) whom they owe a great deal of money. When the stone doesn't find its way quickly into Walken's hands, his thugs go after Calvin's partner, who they mistakenly think is poor, unknowing Darryl. Does Calvin do the right thing and protect his new "family" or does he grab the stone for himself? Watch the movie and see.
While Little Man definitely has it's raunchy moments, it's a hilarious way to spend a weekend afternoon. All the actors play their parts perfectly and lots of Wayans' friends like David Alan Grier (In Living Color) and Molly Shannon (SNL) make appearances. This is good stuff. A great storyline with lots of crazy comedic moments, combined with all the extra features such as deleted scenes, commentaries and featurettes a go-go, make Little Man an excellent addition to your collection.
