Death at a Funeral is a hilarious comedy of errors movie. When his father dies, Aaron (Chris Rock) has a lot to deal with. To begin with, he and his wife, Michelle (Regina Hall), still live at home with his mother, Cynthia (Loretta Devine). Cynthia wants her husband's funeral at the house, so Aaron has no choice but to go along. Cynthia also wants a grandchild which just adds more issues, and she apparently hates Michelle! As the oldest son, Aaron is to perform the eulogy, which wouldn't be so bad if his brother Ryan (Martin Lawrence) wasn't a "famous" author who the entire family would rather be hearing. Aaron is an author himself, but he's not had anything published, so that means that he can't be any good, even if it's just that he's never let anyone read his work. To make matters even worse, he's got to pay for the entire funeral himself since his brother, the published author, is broke.

That, of course, just covers the deceased's immediate family. He also had 2 brothers, Russell (Danny Glover) and Duncan (Ron Glass). Uncle Russell is perhaps the most miserable grouchy person alive. The family friend Norman (Tracy Morgan) is stuck bringing him to the funeral and baby-sitting him while there. Duncan isn't nearly as miserable, but he has two adult children, Elaine (Zoe Saldana) and Jeff (Columbus Short). Elaine and her boyfriend Oscar (James Marsden) stop by to pick up Jeff. While there, Elaine gives Jeff a valium from a pill bottle that her bother has. We were immediately suspicious of this, but Oscar doesn't think twice and takes one. It turns out that the pill bottle holds a highly hallucinogenic substance leaving Oscar high as a kite for the entire movie. Duncan already doesn't approve of Oscar for his daughter and after this, it'll be a miracle if he doesn't kill him.

Once everyone gets there, there's one person that no one seems to know. He's a little person named Frank (Peter Dinklage). If this day wasn't going wrong enough for Aaron as it is, Frank's news is going to make his life infinitely more complicated. I'm really not sure how Aaron pulls this all off, but it's by far one of the funniest movies that I've seen in a long time!

The DVD also contains quite a few extras that will make you laugh even more. There's a gag reel that really made me laugh and deleted scenes that really didn't add much to the movie, but were funny. You can also watch the behind the scenes featurette just for additional information and even commentary on the movie itself, plus more. Death at a Funeral made me laugh more than anything has in a long time and I'm usually not the big comedy fan. While I wouldn't say that it's family appropriate by any means, it's also not extremely offensive. They did a really good job of using comedy in just the right way. I recommend everyone go pick up Death at a Funeral today!
