Assuming you're new to the show, each episode begins with the same sequence: D.J. Lance Rock brings what looks like a huge boom-box into view, then proceeds to unpack some wild-looking vinyl toys. The toys come to life, the music starts pumping, and mucho Yo Gabba Gabba! magic ensues. Let's Visit the Doctor! isn't a special single release, just a collection of four episodes that have somewhat of a healthcare theme. "Doctor" is probably closest to the title, but "Clean" and "Teeth" are also in the right vein. The final episode, "Car" isn't really related, but kids won't care.
Back to our earlier point, consider the lineup of talent on Yo Gabba Gabba! Let's Visit the Doctor!. Musical acts Mouse on Mars, Biz Markie, The Roots, and of Montreal make appearances or contribute songs to these episodes. Actors Rachel Dratch (of SNL), Anthony Bourdain (Food Channel) and Amy Sedaris (Comedy Central) are featured in skits related to the theme of each episode. The great talent and overall production of the show will keep kids and adults entertained, but there's good learning along the way that keeps things "edutaining" for the little ones. The best edutainment is the kind that kids don't know they're getting, which perfectly describes Yo Gabba Gabba!
This is a no-frills release in the sense that it doesn't offer exclusive content, or anything not available to kids through the show. As any parent knows, kids can't get enough of their favorite show, and the ability to take Yo Gabba Gabba! Let's Visit the Doctor! on the road in DVD format will make for many a happy ride in the minivan. If you've wondered what the whole Yo Gabba Gabba! brand is about, Let's Visit the Doctor! is worth picking up.
