Danny Fenton is the son in a family of ghost hunters. Too bad they've never actually seen one and most people see the Fentons as a joke, including Danny's older sister, Jazz. What his family doesn't realize is that an accident a month or so before the show starts has left Danny half-ghost and half-boy. What this means is that he has the ability to "go ghost" and turn invisible, fly, turn intangible and even a few new powers he will learn about as the season progresses.
Now Danny, along with his friends Sam, a goth girl, and Tucker, a techno-geek, work to stave off the increasing number of ghosts escaping into the real world. At first, the enemies are average. Characters like the ghost-hunter Skulker, a techno-crazed spook named Technus and a love-sick ghost couple of Johnny 13 and Kitty, plus Johnny's unlucky shadow are just a few examples of the normal foes Danny faces.
It isn't long before Danny meets his arch nemesis. It seems Danny wasn't the first accident his father caused that resulted in a ghost/human hybrid. An old college friend of Danny's parents, Vlad Masters, not only has all of Danny's powers and 20 extra years of practice, but also the belief that Jack Fenton, Danny's dad, stole Maddie, Danny's mom, from Vlad all those years ago.
Outside of his ghost-hunting life, Danny also has to deal with the same issues most kids have to handle. He wants to be one of the popular kids, he wants to date the most popular girl, and his parents are very, very embarrassing. Oh and to top everything off, he has an overbearing teacher that is getting curious about how he spends his free time. Needless to say, Danny's got a pretty busy life.
While there aren't any special features on Danny Phantom: Season One, the quality of the show alone makes this collection a good buy.
