In the first episode on this disc, Naruto has been backed into a corner against the wild fighter Kiba and he plans to release his most unusual attack yet. But the main focus of this DVD has to be the match between Hinata and last year's most notable rookie Genin, Neji, both of the Hyuga clan. That means both fighters have access to the clan's secret Jutsu, the Byakugan. It is in these two episodes that we not only find out how nothing can hide from this awesome power, but also what grudge Neji seems to have against Hinata and her father.
In this two-part battle, we find out that the Hyuga clan is divided into two parts, branch and trunk family members. The main trunk members (Hinata and her father and sister) apparently have the benefit of being the clan's leader, and even though Neji's father was born a mere minutes after Hinata's, he and his family are considered a lesser part of the Huyga clan. Neji is determined to show that this is a major injustice.
The final episode in Byakugan Battle starts off one of the last matches in these preliminary tests (the only ones left are very minor and don't compare to this epic battle), this one between the mysterious Gaara and the Leaf Village's very own Rock Lee. Can Lee's unique mastery of Tai-Jutsu break through Gaara's dense sand shield? Can Gaara's defenses hold up against Rock Lee's speed? Unfortunately this battle isn't finished on this disc and spans another two or three episodes, but the fight does start off with a bang.
The most interesting aspect of this disc has to be the fight between the two Hyuga clan members. Though Neji wins the fight, timid Hinata stands tall and gives Naruto the fire necessary to show that determination and hard work might be able to beat raw talent after all.
