Agatha Christie's Partners In Crime: The Tommy and Tuppence Mysteries is a mildly exciting and entertaining detective series starring Francesca Annis (Cranford, Reckless) as Tuppence Beresford and James Warwick (Lillie) as husband Tommy. The PBS mystery favorite is an adventure of a young (and eventually) married couple suffering from the doldrums of a passive and boring life. Tommy suggests that the pair combine their talents as Partners in Crime creating a most extraordinary business called Blunt's Detective Agency specializing in 24-hour-results. With such a bold proclamation, clients begin knocking at their door seeking solutions to their own personal, mysterious problems.

Armed with a stylish fashion sense and "expense privileges," the couple enjoy the magical limelight of movie stars, politicians, explorers, and gamblers. Their modest office is overseen by sidekick and assistant Albert (Reece Dinsdale). Back-up is secured by Inspector Marriott (Arthur Cox) of Scotland Yard as they investigate cases ranging from a missing purloined pearl to a missing explorer's fiancee'.

These 11 mysteries are based in the reckless Roaring 20's and begin with the first meeting of our charming couple and continue through their final cases. Tuppence is delightfully capricious, beautiful and captivating as she romances Tommy in the most astounding fashions. Tommy is handsome, dry-witted and charming, and always keeping a protective eye on his flirtatious, fun-loving wife. Evenings on-the-town are enjoyed by the Beresfords as they set off in their Bentley to investigate in elegant evening wear designed by Linda Mattock, while attending flamboyant masquerade parties and clandestine gambling houses. Their exploits are set in stately English manors, charming country cottages, mist-filled villages, and homes shrouded by death.

The mysteries begin with "The Secret Adversary," a full-length movie revealing the accidental meeting of two old friends, Tommy Beresford and Tuppence Cowley, who decide to join as Partners in Crime to investigate a treaty lost on the Lusitania that could hold the key to a Bolshevik conspiracy. The series does not have any features but is a great addition to your Agatha Christie and mystery collection. Agatha Christie's Partners In Crime: The Tommy and Tuppence Mysteries is a pleasant way to spend a family evening. Even though the stories are mellow, they still have the unmistakable Agatha Christie signature.
