SlugTerra: Vol 2. Slugs Unleashed continues Eli and his Shane Gang's adventures in the subterranean world of SlugTerra.

After the first volume's worth of events, Eli's presence in SlugTerra is now widely known and the petty thugs know that there is a new Shane Gang in town. The first episode in Slugs Unleashed has Eli participating in a major race that has only one rule, you can't use your slugs to take out other racers. Eli finds a new rival in the race's reigning champion, Vance Volt, especially when he finds out the racer has Blakk Industries as a sponsor because the evil corporation wants the rare slug that is the prize of the competition.

The next episode has Eli, Trixie, Kord and Pronto stopping Blakk's cronies, Locke and Lode, from making a cavern go completely dark. For some reason, the slugs are leaving this particular part of SlugTerra and the Shane Gang is working to bring a collection of highly energetic slugs back to the cavern and get it going again. After an altercation with Locke and Lode, the direct route is cut off, and Eli and friends have to go through Shadow Clan territory.

In "Dawn of the Slug," the group takes a little R&R by heading to a massive mall. Unfortunately, it seems like the place is overrun by zombies. Fortunately, a lifetime of watching zombie movies means that Eli knows how to handle the situation. As luck would have it, these aren't really any kind of zombies he knows about, and these seem to be caused by a ghouled Hypnogriff (aka Cryptogriff) in the hands of a voodoo-influenced character named Mr. Saturday.

In the the fourth episode on this DVD, Pronto learns of a slug-training spa where people can pay top-dollar to relax while their slugs go through intense training. The Shane Gang sign up and decide to check out how well this process works, even though Eli has some reservations. When they get there, they find that the club's owner uses a pair of machines to shoot the slugs back and forth to get them to power-up super quick. This combined with some extra vitamins seems to be the key to the program. As you would expect from a story like this though, everyone learns that the quick and easy way is not the best way.

Slugs Unleashed's final episode has Trixie realizing that she caught video of a very rare slug called Enigmo. It's so rare, in fact, that no one actually knows what its power is. As the Shane Gang scours the area that the video came from, they realize that there are others looking for the same slug. When the hunt gets into full swing, Eli accidently gets hit by the rare creature and as a result, his vision gets messed up. Now Eli has to not only fight against some other slingers, but find and protect the Enigmo as well, all while not being able to see straight.

SlugTerra: Vol 2. Slugs Unleashed features a few extras like three webisodes and a behind-the-scenes featurette about the show's writing - basically the same amount of added content seen in the show's first volume.

I still find SlugTerra to be an amusing show and I'm curious to see where it goes. At this point, it feels like the characters have established their places and roles, and there are hints about a bigger picture involving both Dr. Blakk and the Shadow Clan. If the first volume caught your attention, then you shouldn't miss Slugs Unleashed.
