Monsuno: Combat Chaos is the start of the show’s Second Season. I will say this was a bit surprising to me since only 10 of the First Season’s 26 episodes have been released so far.

Apparently a lot happened in those missing 16 episodes, and from what I can gather, Chase and his friends have not only found Chase’s father, but have teamed up with him again and there are quite a few new Monsuno at Team Core-Tech’s disposal. Regardless, it seems the good guys with the blue cores have a new enemy at hand and they go by the name of the Junk Monks. Needless to say, there is more than just a hint of steampunk in both their outfits and their Monsuno.

Team Core-Tech’s first encounter with this group ends badly. Not only do they lose a fight against the new enemy, but a massive explosion finds them losing one of the Monsuno that they have had since the show’s start. What’s worse is that the Junk Monks escape with several more devices just as devastating.

After dealing with the Junk Monks, Team Core-Tech finds themselves facing Medea’s group and her team’s new employer. At first, Medea is just following Chase’s team, but it isn’t long before the two groups confront each other and Medea’s boss makes an appearance. When the new enemy spins out a duplicate of Lock, everyone is confused. It seems this new character has a Monsuno technology completely separate from Jeredy Suno’s work.

Monsuno: Combat Chaos wraps up with a pair of episodes that has Team Core-Tech facing their old enemies, S.T.O.R.M. and Dr. Klipse. In one episode, Chase’s friends actively go after a S.T.O.R.M. Monsuno cache in order to collect data for Jeredy’s research, while the other has Dax returning to his hometown to learn about his parents, but it isn’t long before they realize that Dr. Klipse is actually behind the meeting in an attempt to re-create what happened to Jon Ace.

Monsuno continues to be a show that follows a fairly predictable pattern, but at least its an amusing ride. Hopefully, the rest of the First Season will be released at some point. While fans of the show won’t want to miss this particular DVD, it would be nice to fill in the gaps at some point.
