SlugTerra: Vol 3. Slug Power finishes the first season of the show and kicks off Season Two. As a result, it contains some heavy-hitting and slugslinging episodes.

In the first episode, the Shane Gang are tracking down a new slug to add to their collections, when a recent upgrade Kord applied to their mecha-beasts goes haywire. Despite going over everything, Kord can’t seem to figure out what the problem is. Eli, Trixie and Pronto suggest a trip to The Forge where Kord’s friend works as head engineer. After all, if the manufacturers can’t fix their rides, then no one can. When they arrive at the facilities, they find Kord’s friend has been replaced by another head engineer, at least that’s what it looks like. It’s soon obvious that not everything is on the up-and-up.

The second episode starts off with Eli and his friends running from a group of Dr. Blakk’s goons. When the Shane Gang make their way into SlugTerra’s underground rivers, they encounter pirates who attempt to steal all of their slugs. The Shane Gang can’t hold up to the massive firepower the pirates have at their disposal, and as a result, end up cleaning the decks of the pirate ship, that is, until Blakk’s squad finds them again.

Season One ends with Pronto being imprisoned and overly punished for a minor crime (spitting on the sidewalk). Eli attempts to make a trick shot with a new slug, but finds he doesn’t quite have the skills to pull it off. Kord tells Eli about a famous trick shot star who left the limelight several years before for unknown reasons. Eli approaches Mario Bravado, now the proprietor of Ricochet Pizza, to hire him for the job. Instead, Mario starts teaching Eli how to perform trick shots in a Mr. Miyagi fashion by having Eli make pizzas.

Season Two kicks off with a two-parter called "The New Kid." In these episodes, the Shane Gang meets a new friend named Twist who has a slug called Loki. When Twist helps the main characters get away from a slew of Blakk’s minions, Eli warms up to the guy quickly. Twist joins them in a mission to attack a ghoul slug storage depot, but the security seems to be a bit beefier than they expected. In a fairly predictable manner, it turns out that Twist is actually working for Blakk and has informed the evil man of their plans. Can the Shane Gang pull off a major heist to halt Dr. Blakk’s ghoul production, especially with a mole in their operation (and I’m not talking about Pronto).

SlugTerra: Vol 3. Slug Power contains a featurette as well as three new short slugisodes. The featurette goes behind the scenes of the show and talks about the different pieces that had to come together from the character and sound design to the casting. As for the three, one-minute slugisodes, one talks about the history of slugslinging, another is on Dr. Blakk’s backstory, while the last talks about the caverns underneath SlugTerra. All-in-all, SlugTerra: Vol 3. Slug Power does a good job of continuing the Shane Gang’s story and it’s interesting to see how things change with the events of these episodes.
