Naruto Vol. 13: Forbidden Secret Jutsu! not only finishes the Chunin Preliminary Exams, but also the first season of Naruto. In these final four episodes, Rock Lee and Gaara's traumatic preliminary match concludes with Gaara actually getting hurt, but Rock Lee's use of a forbidden secret Jutsu leaves him not only defeated, but also unable to ever fight again.

The first half of the disc finishes off this fight, while the other two episodes wind down the events of prelims, but also reveal the nature of the Finals. In a month, the remaining nine fighters will face off in a tournament with all of the leaders of the world watching.

But that isn't all the happens. Kabuto's true allegiance is revealed to the Hidden Leaf as he attempts to kill Sasuke in his hospital room and Gaara's true form (well, actually just its shadow) takes out the last of the Sound Ninja contestants outside of the ring.

This season wraps up with Naruto starting his next phase in training. He is given to the Special Junin, Ebisu, to be taught to perfect the basics, but his training is cut short when an old man knocks out his instructor and now Naruto believes this new character should be the one to teach him.

Naruto Vol. 13: Forbidden Secret Jutsu! does a good job of finally ending the long and painful Chunin Preliminary Exams and prepping things for the next phase, the Finals, and the destruction of the Hidden Leaf Village.
