Remember the Titans is a great inspirational film taking place in the early days of desegregation. In 1971, a small Virginian town will be starting its first year with a mixed-race school. This story is about that school's first interracial football team, The Titans.

Up until this point, the team was lead by Coach Bill Yoast (Will Patton), but he soon finds out that he is being replaced by a black coach named Herman Boone (Denzel Washington). Yoast takes up the position of Head Defensive Coach under Boone and now the pair has to not only deal with their own politics, but also getting their team to act like a team.

Along with the pair of coaches and a whole slew of players, there is also Yoast's tomboy of a daughter who knows just as much about football as the adults. This trio forces the gang to not just play football, but become friends with each other no matter what their skin color.

When school starts up and the season begins, the real trials start. Not only does the team that has come to think of itself as above race have to deal with bigotry in their school, but it turns out that if The Titans lose a single match, the school board will fire Boone and put Yoast back on top. Yoast then has to struggle with his desire to excel and his want to do right, while the team works their way through a marvelous season.

Like I said, Remember the Titans is inspirational. Not only is it a classic high school football film, but the tale of working through racism is something that everyone needs to see. This Blu-ray film comes packed with featurettes and commentaries that any fan of the movie will love to see. Plus it has the DVD's original features, the deleted scenes.
