The Third: Vol. 2 Tending Wounds starts up after the group has a devastating encounter with the A.I. enforcer, Blue Breaker. Millie's father is now gone and Honoka has inadvertently revealed her blue astral eye to Millie and her new, strange client, Iks.

The first episode follows the characters as they grieve for their lost friend and give background on what Astral Eyes actually are, as well as why Honoka's is blue while other members of The Third have red ones.

The second episode brings with it the return of Blue Breaker and Honoka's chance to get vengeance for her fallen friend. But when she jumps into her fighting suit, the PSP, she can't quite keep up. Eventually Honoka gets her mind in the game and meets Blue Breaker's assault with equal force. This episode shows that The Third are very well aware of Iks and reveals that this "strange visitor" is actually an alien. The Third decide to leave Iks alone for now, as long as his "observations" don't interfere with their plans.

In the third episode, "Until Dawn," Honoka eventually brings Millie to her aunt's family in Emporium and lets her be raised in a more stable environment. This episode's primary focus is a night-long battle Honoka has with hives of desert ants in order to protect a newly developing queen ant that has attached itself to Honoka's tank. We don't really know why Honoka wants to protect this new queen, but she feels she must.

The last episode in Tending Wounds is a nice break from most of the action that has been occurring in the series so far. Honoka finally makes her way back to Emporium so she can visit Millie, but along the way, it seems like something has stirred up the sand dragons and Honoka begins to investigate what could be causing this new disturbing behavior.

The Third: Vol. 2 starts to answer some of the questions about the world of The Third. We learn of Honoka's past, how she came to live off of the desert land and we start to get an inkling of Iks' strange origins. If you liked the first part of this series, then Tending Wounds is the character-building episodes you are looking for so you can be ready for the action that you can feel is building up.
