Season 2 starts off just after the defeat of the most notorious alien baddie the galaxy has ever known, Vilgax, and Ben and Gwen find out exactly why their Grandpa seems to have unusual knowledge about aliens and the Omnitrix. It turns out his days as a "Plumber" weren't all about fixing leaky pipes. He was a member of an Earth-based, "Men in Black"-esque organization designed to keep knowledge about aliens hushed. With the tons of cool gadgets their Grandpa has, Gwen's' occasional "Lucky Girl" powers and two new heroes, this season will be way more explosive than the first. Not only will Ben get to go hero in two new forms, Cannonbolt and Wildvine, but he will also face-off against the real GhostFreak. Ben also goes up against a huge plant-alien, Kevin 11, and joins forces with a team of space superheroes called The Galactic Enforcers.
Most of the episodes in Ben 10: Season 2 are pretty fun, but one of the most memorable ones is "Gwen 10" where, for some reason, Ben finds himself back on the first day of vacation. He is the only one that remembers the events of the last few weeks and he begins to freak out his cousin and grandfather when he begins predicting the future. When it is time to take possession of the Omnitrix though, things start to go a little odd, Gwen finds the device and becomes the one who can change into different aliens, and much to Ben's chagrin, she controls it better than he does.
The season wraps up with Ben finally gaining mastery over the Omnitrix and being able to turn into each of the different aliens just by thinking it (instead of having to set the watch and hit the button). His day of triumph is cut short when Vilgax and Kevin 11 team up to try and take it from him once and for all.
The set comes with a few features that fans of the show might be interested in, like a "How to..." on drawing Heatblast, though this featurette comes off more as a "Watch this guy draw Heatblast" than a "How to..". There is also a short on many of the different types of aliens found in the Omnitrix, but the better features are the deleted scenes from specific episodes.
At $19.99, Ben 10: Season 2 is a good buy for any fan of the series. The 13 episodes are a great continuation of the series and, even if you didn't see all of the first season, if you have an idea of what the show is about, Season 2 is still a good watch.
