The first episode in this volume is also the last one of Season Three. In this episode, Gaara reveals a bit more of his past and explains to Naruto that the only way Naruto could be stronger is if he fought for himself alone, not others. But Naruto realizes that his friends, and his desire to protect his friends, is what kept him from becoming like Gaara, and what makes him strong enough to stop the other ninja.
Eventually, Gaara finishes his transformation by putting himself in a deep sleep and allowing Shukaku of the Sand to take over his body. Naruto realizes that the only way to stop this beast is to summon Gamabunta, but he calls one of the King Toad's children instead. After a second attempt, Naruto finally calls on the giant sword-wielding toad and the two realize that, in their current state, they couldn't hope to defeat Shukaku. Gamabunta tells Naruto to picture something that can win, preferably something with claws, and the two fighters combine and create the form of The Nine-Tailed Fox, Kyubi, who is sealed away in Naruto.
Eventually, Naruto is able to wake up Gaara and force the sand demon back into hibernation, but Gaara is still bent on destroying Naruto. With both fighters completely drained of chakra, it isn't until they are both on their backs and breathing heavy that Gaara finally starts to see the similarities between him and the show's namesake. We see one last flashback of Gaara remembering someone telling him what love means and he finally realizes the error of his ways.
Meanwhile, during Naruto's fight, The Third Hokage has been slowly pulling Orochimaru's soul out of his body so it can be sealed away with his in the Reaper Death Seal that The Fourth Hokage developed. These events are long and slowly drawn out among the first three episodes on this disc since most of the show focuses on Naruto and Gaara's battle. Ultimately, The Third Hokage realizes that Orochimaru is too strong and instead of taking away his whole soul, he cuts the arms off of the soul and takes that with him, essentially removing any control Orochimaru has over his arms and preventing him from performing any Jutsus... the one thing he values above all else.
The last episode on this disc is a somber one that not only honors Saritobi's sacrifice, but also the sacarfice of all of the Leaf Ninja who fought to keep the village from being completely destroyed. This episode also hints at the upcoming arch as two cloaked figures stand outside the walls of the Leaf Village, and one of them appears to have a Sharingan. Could Sasuke's brother be back? What could the man who betrayed and slaughtered his whole clan want in The Leaf Village?
Since this disc finishes off this long-lasting, and multi-season story arch, watchers of the show would definitely want to see it. Plus it has a great battle between Naruto and Gamabunta as Kyubi fighting Shukaku, and who doesn't want to watch that over and over again?
