Saawariya ("beloved" in Hindi) brings fantasy alive when a misty blue hue weaves the romantic tale of unrequited love throughout the lives of Raj (Rambir Kapoor), Gulab (Rani Mukherjee) and Sakina (Sonam Kapoor). The melodrama is narrated by the beautiful and confident Gulab as she surveys love at its best and worst among the women of the night in the red light district of this mysterious beautiful city. Raj will dance his way into your spirit as a jubilant rock troubadour seeking to bring joy to everyone and every situation. He is struck by the mystery and melancholy beauty of Sakina, alone on a bridge crying in the night. He follows her home for safety and falls deeply in love. Eventually, Raj discovers that Sakina has awaited the return of her Moslem lover, Imaan (Salman Kahn) who promised to return for the Eid celebration where Moslems celebrate the revelation of the moon.

You will fall in love with the plight of Sakina's heart when she fears that Imaan will not return and she will fall to the fate of her mother, who died awaiting her father's return after he abandoned her and Sakina. Raj is determined to spend a lifetime making Sakina forget Imaan and fall in love with him. Gulab wisely watches this love parade while she secretly hides her romantic desire for the charming and innocent Raj. The tapestry of love's fleeting alure will take you on an emotional carousel as it tests the power of unconditional love.

Saawariya is reminiscent of the musicals of the 1950's and is intoxicating in its display of artistic splendor with background paintings, sculpture, draperies and etchings that will take your breath away. The costumes are exquisitely brilliant and create an enticing mood for romance. The collaborative effort of Bollywood and Hollywood brings this Indian movie to an American audience. Sanjay Leela Bashani (DEVDAS) directed the movie that is based on Dostoyevsky's White Nights.

The two featurettes, "Making the Music" and "Premiere Night Footage" will introduce you to the geniuses behind the movie and music that bring together a perfect blend of mood and mystery. "Premiere" gives you an opportunity to get to know acting newcomers Sonam Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor. You will also become privy to the fact that the RK Bar secretly pays homage to veteran actor Raj Kapoor.

There is a lot of laughter, tears, song and dance in Saawariya that brings a perfect Indian fantasy to the American audience. The innocence and tenderness of these beautiful people display their passionate and pure feelings for those they love amid an array of artistic beauty.
