Joel (Fran Kranz) should have a pretty good life. He just graduated from Yale, has a cute girlfriend, and should have his whole future ahead of him, but when his job at the bowling alley and lack of ambition causes his girlfriend to dump him, and on national television no less, his routine becomes nothing more than constantly re-watching the tape of "The Dr. Dwayne Show" where his heart was broken.
Joel's friends, Wyatt (Thompson) and Ben (Zachary Levi), grow tired of his funk and decide to drag him off the couch and on a road trip to L.A. so that Joel can confront Dr. Dwayne (Darrell Hammond) and beat him up for ruining Joel's life. To give you an idea about the type of people Joel, Wyatt and Ben are, they have never been in any fights and they got picked on in school. So they believe Joel going out to take on Dr. Dwayne will be something so out-of-character that it will bring him back and let him get on with his life.
Meanwhile, Wyatt, fed up with not getting the Oscar Mayer internship for the 13th time, decides to show the company just how good he is in the hot dog industry. He purchases a van with a giant hot dog on the roof and his face plastered on the side, and plans to use this trip to pass out free hot dogs in a massive bout of self-promotion.
So, in the vein of Road Trip, the trio set out on a cross-country mission and over the course of their journey, they will run into their old sixth grade teacher, Ms. Isaac (Jenny McCarthy), join a circus (sort of) and, of course, give away a bunch of wieners. By the end they will eventually confront Dr. Dwayne, and each of them will learn a little something about themselves.
Quite frankly, there isn't a lot good about this movie. The plot is very formulaic and weak, the acting is mediocre (the only possible exception is McCarthy's brief appearance as a drunken, drugged out former hotty) and while there are a few funny moments, it just isn't enough. These issues plus the lack of any special features just makes this DVD really hard to recommend.
