When Brenda encounters prejudice at Minnesota U based on her former, glitzy zip code, she bails and heads right back to Beverly. She, Kelly, Andrea and Donna all join the same sorority, while Steve joins the infamous Kappa Epsilon Gamma fraternity. Yes, the KEG house. While there, he has to deal with hazing, being accused of date rape, the attempted suicide of the same girl who accused him, plus he stands up to his frat brothers when the president of the house comes out to him.
Donna and David have their ups and downs. David, Donna and Kelly end up renting a beachfront apartment together and things are fine until David starts pressuring Donna for sex again. Plus, David and Kelly are at each other's throats because their parents are engaged in a huge custody battle. David and Donna get hired to work the graveyard shift of the college radio station, but Donna can't handle the hours, so David has to do it himself. He soon starts taking crystal meth to make it through the shift, leading to him robbing his dad's office of some codeine to get some sleep. Unfortunately, he crashes on a park bench while he is supposed to be watching he and Kelly's baby sister, Erin, who ends up missing. Although Erin is returned, David's drug problem comes to light and he deals with it. He later gets involved with a music promoter named Ariel and ends up sleeping with her, with Donna busting them together in a limo, leading to their break-up in the season finale.
Dylan and Kelly break up while on summer vacation in Europe, then return only to get back together, then break up and reunite a few more times. Throughout the season, Brenda and Dylan rediscover buried feelings for each other and Kelly and Brandon realize that there's a spark between them, but not before Brandon has flings with the chancellor's daughter, wild child Clare (Kathleen Robertson) and his sociology professor's wife, Lucinda (Dina Meyer).
Andrea discovers her sexual side when she has an affair with the cute resident advisor in her dorm, Dan. She then tires of him when she meets Jesse (Mark D. Espinoza), part-time bartender, full-time law student. They begin a relationship and the girl with everything together gets knocked up. She toys with the thought of abortion, but she and Jesse end up getting married and she has her child prematurely.
Dylan discovers he has a younger sister, which comes as a huge surprise, but then when her mother, Suzanne, and Suzanne's new husband bilk Dylan out of a huge ton of his money, it's bad times for McKay. This comes on the heels of his investment in The Peach Pit after Nat (Joe E. Tata) has a heart attack and his cousin and partner wants to sell out.
In additional to 31 episodes, there are also a few special features. There are featurettes including the loves of Season 4 with Jesse Vasquez (Mark D. Espinoza) and Lucinda Nicholson (Dina Meyer), plus Beverly Hills Moms which include interviews with Cindy Walsh (Carol Potter) and Felice Martin (Katherine Cannon), as well as a retrospective with Charles Rosin. There are also a few others that are just kind of weird, more mash-ups of clips from the shows of Season 4. All in all, the season is okay, but I found Andrea's storylines to be boring and laborious and some of the others just plain silly. If you've been keeping up with the series and want to see the next installment, check out 90210: Season 4, but this isn't a good place to get into the series for the first time as you'll be left behind.
