Naruto the Movie 2: The Legend of the Stone of Gelel follows Naruto, Sakura and Shikimaru on their (seemingly simple) mission to capture a ferret that has run away and return it to his owners. But when they are ambushed by a strange army, Naruto gets separated from the rest of the squad and has to face off against the enemy force's leader on his own. The two forces end up knocking each other out and get nursed back to health by a traveling caravan.

As Naruto and the strange individual, named Temujin, recuperate, Naruto learns that this land was once a lush place to live, but because of an ancient disaster, it became a wasteland and the people of the land became nomadic. As it turns out, the ferret Naruto and his teammates were tracking belongs to the caravan, and somehow, the little critter has been with the group since it became nomadic many centuries ago.

Naruto and Temujin start to become friends and Naruto follows the young man to his master, who dreams of creating a utopia without war with the help of an ancient relic known as The Stone of Gelel. But not everything seems to be on the up-and-up, especially when Temujin's master, Haido, learns that the caravan where they just came from knows about the Stone. When Naruto sees what Haido and Temujin are willing to do in order to bring about this utopia, he becomes disgusted.

Meanwhile, Shikimaru and Sakura spend their time looking for Naruto, and end up meeting the same caravan Naruto stayed at. Along the way, they run into some of Haido's henchwomen and even get a visit from Gaara and Kankuro who are tasked with stopping Haido's forces.

What is really nice about this movie is the constant action and the fact that there are constant fights going on. Whether they are the main battles or the side ones that the other characters participate in, it's all action, all the time.

Naruto the Movie 2: Legend of the Stone of Gelel also comes with a second disc full of special features. Not only does the second disc contain a trailer of the third Naruto movie, the original Japanese trailer for Stone of Gelel and the original storyboards, but there are a couple of featurettes that are worth watching. I really enjoyed the feature that talked about the process of translating and re-recording a Japanese movie for the American audience. Another is a general look at the movie itself, and the third is a discussion with the creators themselves (subtitled for those of us who don't know Japanese).

In general, Stone of Gelel is a pretty good action movie. There are a couple of nice little twists in the film to keep you happy, and of course a huge array of fights, jutsu and typical Naruto-styled comedy.
