Kenny vs. Spenny: Volume One Uncensored is a Canadian series brought to the U.S. by South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. While the show has been going on for four seasons in the northern country, instead of starting off from the beginning for Americans, we get to start with the newest season. This means we get a more seasoned show, rather than the early episodes where they are apparently still trying to figure out what exactly they are doing.

So how can a series be brought to a brand new audience four seasons late? Simply, at least when there is no plot and each episode is completely self-contained. As the shows intro proclaims, throughout time, man has been going up against man in various forms of competition, and these competitions have led us to this series, where two best friends spend their time proving which one is best and which one will be humiliated.

The basic premise of the series is interesting since each week brings a new challenge between the two roommates (Kenny and Spencer) and whichever one loses has to perform some degrading task (that the winner has chosen, of course). The bad thing for Spenny is that he is mostly a straight arrow, and Kenny has no problems doing whatever it takes to win, so more times than not, Kenny will win the competition.

This season starts off with "First Guy to Get a Boner Loses," which surprisingly enough lasts for quite a while, but then again Kenny does go to his physician of a brother and get a neural blocker injection to keep any ... um, undesired reactions at bay. This particular competition ends with the two choosing a lap dancer from a local strip bar to entice the other. Let's just say this episode doesn't end all that well for Spenny.

Other competitions include "Who Can Eat the Most Meat?", "Who Can Be Tied to a Goat the Longest?" and "First Guy to Stop Singing Loses". One of the more interesting, if not painful, episodes was "Who Can Handle More Torture?" Here the pair are supposed to compete in a variety of tortures (like drinking hot sauce, being a human piƱata, sticking hot dogs where the sun doesn't shine and so on). Unfortunately for Spenny, Kenny quickly tells the audience that he is purposefully losing these mini-competitions (most of the time simple forfeiting before he has to take his turn) just to see Spenny humiliate himself over and over again.

Probably the most excruciating part of the series are the humiliations. These are the various acts the losing party must perform. While some of them aren't bad like Kenny having to do improv or being forced to make out with an old lady, some are a bit worse. Kenny has Spencer act as a human bidet, or being forced to lick the door handle of an adult video store.

Kenny vs. Spenny is most definitely not for everyone. The show is full of crude humor (so if you aren't into that, then definitely skip it), and throughout most of the season, I kept trying to figure out why Spencer was still friends with Kenny. While not for everyone, there is a certain audience for this series (which explains why it has not only lasted this long, but inspired similar series in other countries), and those of you whom this show will appeal to know who you are.
