The Best of Comedy Central Presents: Uncensored II is the second collection of the series (the first being The Best of Comedy Central Presents: Uncensored), that puts stand-up comics on stage, doing what they do best... stand-up. This collection features the comedy stylings of Dave Attell, Mike Birbiglia, Frank Caliendo, Zach Galifianakis, Stephen Lynch, Patton Oswalt, Nick Swardson and Daniel Tosh. While I had heard of most of these comics and heard their sets (typicall via the "XM Comedy" station on XM Radio), there were a few in this collection that I hadn't heard of before. But even those were gems.

Dave Attell starts off talking about going out at night, moves on to the need to smoke and when it's okay to light up a cigarette and then to the fact that one-legged people always have good stories (at least a lot better than that man with one tooth). Attell covers a lot of subjects in his short time on stage, and he does a pretty good job transitioning between them.

Birbiglia's special is next on the disc, and here he focuses on his ability to make awkward situations even more awkward. Whether it's bringing a mattress into his apartment, going to a nightclub, or being offered ecstasy. He continues on to talk about foreigners working in restaurants and how every woman he dates is crazy, but hides it real well until a few months into the relationship.

Birbiglia is followed by a personal favorite, Frank Caliendo, who is known for his many voices, particularly Madden. Caliendo goes from Adam Sandler to the football announcer to President Bush (W), Al Pacino and Robin Williams (reenacting The Wizard of Oz as a one-man show). By the end of the set, Caliendo will end up having a bit of a conversation between all of his voices to create a truly comedic moment.

Zach Galifianakis was one of my least favorites from this collection. He does a bit on the piano and has a dozen girls come on stage to sing a song about his inadequacies. While I got a few laughs out of this section, it wasn't nearly as much as the other acts. Unfortunately, this was also the case with Stephen Lynch's act. Most of the time, Lynch sings comedic songs on his guitar. While a few of these were funny, there are definitely a couple of songs that will be offensive to a lot of people. What I did enjoy was his D&D song.

After that, Patton Oswalt takes the stage for some of his classic stuff (well, considering this part was filmed in 1999, it's actually his work that has since become classic). He talks about playing as a kid, doing drugs, people that "fight valiantly" against cancer, and the fact that modern people react to films set in older times, and think that our current political correctness should have applied then.

Nick Swardson had a pretty good set (though I must confess to not having heard his stuff before). Swardson touches on airport security, and the things that are prohibited on the plane. He also talks about roommates, pets (like a cheetah), dating and adopting children (or at least hoping his child grows up with a British accent).

The collection ends with Daniel Tosh, another comedian I hadn't really heard a lot of before, but really enjoyed. He talks about filling cargo pants with change, and going to the streets for someone to ask for spare change. He also talks about the voices in his head (but at least he can't understand them since they all speak Spanish). He will also talk about Trading Spaces, the birds and the bees, and a game he used to play as a kid that involved climbing over all of the furniture because "the floor is lava."

Much like the first collection, this is a pretty solid gathering of some great comedic talent. I found myself laughing pretty constantly for the DVD's 300+ minutes. If you are a fan of stand-up comedy, or a couple of these comics specifically, then this is definitely something you will want to look into. You should at least rent it if you aren't quite sold on the purchase.
