In the first High School Musical, Gabriella (Vanessa Hudgens) and Troy (Zac Efron) meet during the summer after their sophomore year of high school. When summer is over, they think that they will never see each other again. But as fate would have it, just like in Grease, Gabriella's family ends up moving to the same town that Troy lives in, so of course they end up at the same high school, together again.
Not everyone is happy about the new girl being there, though. Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) has been the best singer in the school for years, and in her mind, the most popular person and all around best at everything. Obviously she's not going to like the new girl taking her lead in the winter play and stealing the heart of Troy, the most popular guy in school.
High School Musical 2 starts on the last day of their junior year of high school. Sharpay is excited because she and her brother, Ryan (Lucas Grabeel), get to spend the summer at the country that her daddy is the president of, which means that she is once again in charge of it all. She will be the best, and she won't have to deal with Gabriella for the whole summer. Being the person she is, though, she decides that is not enough. She wants Troy for herself this summer too. She tells the club director to hire Troy for a summer job. Unbeknownst to her, Troy's condition for taking the job is bringing all the wildcats, especially Gabriella, with him. Sharpay is definitely not happy with this turn of events, but she refuses to give up on her plan to get Troy. She goes to some great lengths to separate Troy and Gabriella, but is she successful? You'll just have to watch and see.
Even if you've already seen High School Musical 2, the new "Dance Edition" has quite a few new extra features this time around. There's a little over 4 minutes of bloopers, some deleted scenes (that we could easily see why they were deleted), a sneak peak at the upcoming High School Musical 3, and much more.
If you haven't seen High School Musical 2 yet, I highly recommend you go get his new edition today. If you already own it, it's debatable on buying a new copy just for special features, but if you're a big enough fan, you might want it anyway!
