When Tom, Jess' brother, returns from his tour of duty, he convinces his girlfriend Marilyn and friend Scotty (who has had a crush on Nicole since they were kids), to go on a road trip to find out what happened to their missing friends. Tom and Marilyn take one car, while Scotty follows in a less-than-well-maintained coupe of his own, though why they are taking a major road trip in two cars is beyond me.
Well, it isn't long before they find themselves in the same haunted location we saw in the first film. As they start to snoop around, they begin to notice themselves being followed by a mysterious yellow truck, which, according to some locals, can only be seen by sinners. As you would expect from a horror movie of this nature, it isn't long before the three main characters get separated and end up having to deal with the movie's bad guy on their own.
Tom gets abducted and tortured in the driver's bus, while both Scotty and Marilyn end up seeing strange phantoms of Nicole (independently). Marilyn sees her in a bathroom stall, that turns very Silent Hill-esque when she finds the bathroom has become far darker, more dirty and more torn up. Meanwhile, the ghost of Nicole starts to fulfill one of Scotty's fantasies, but it isn't long before both of these people realize nothing is as it seems.
Oddly enough, this is the second Blu-ray movie I've seen recently that doesn't have any special features, but at least the DVD version is also extra free (which wasn't the case with Otis). If you like the cheesy horror genre and don't mind a few predictable plot twists, then Rest Stop: Don't Look Back should be amusing. Don't go into it expecting it to be a great film by any means, but this second installment in the Rest Stop line should keep those of us who actually like this stuff entertained.
