Naruto: Uncut Box Set 9 follows Lady Tsunade's rise to the title of the Fifth Hokage, as well as Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura's mission in the Land of Tea.

Because of both of those events, Sasuke has started to realize just how powerful Naruto has gotten (seeing as he was able to stop Aoi when Sasuke couldn't). Also, his recent bout with his brother, Itachi, has proven that Sasuke still has quite a ways to go before he can finally get his vengeance.

After being healed by Tsunade, Sasuke decides its time to see just how powerful Naruto has gotten and challenges him to a real fight. Considering the rivalry that has been growing between the two teammates, it's no surprise that this fight quickly escalates in both intensity and vigor. When Naruto prepares to use the Rasengan and Sasuke pulls out his Chidori, it takes Kakashi to step between the pair and stop the fight before they kill each other.

Meanwhile, Orochimaru has sent four ninja to the Hidden Leaf Village. Their mission is to show Sasuke just how much power Orochimaru can give him and bring him back to become a Sound Ninja. After a brief fight, Sasuke realizes that he can't hope to defeat these four fighters, and for him the promise of similar power is all the incentive he needs to leave his village behind.

When Tsunade learns of Sasuke's defection, she has the newly promoted Shikamaru (he is the only Leaf Ninja to actually pass the interrupted Chunin Exams) assemble a team to bring Sauske back. Unfortunately, because of the weakened state of the village since Orochimaru's attack, many higher level ninja are unavailable, so he must form the Sasuke Retrieval Squad out of the Genin the series has followed up to this point. He quickly chooses Neji, Naruto, Kiba and Choji to join him on the mission and quickly devices a plan that will utilize each fighter's unique strengths.

By the time this box set is done, the squad will meet up with two members of Sasuke's guards. Choji is left to face Jirobo while Neji goes up against Kidomaru. Both battles are fierce and while they are able to defeat the Sound Ninja, both characters are severely injured and might not survive the experience.

A lot happens in these three discs, and even more will occur next time, when Naruto himself catches up to Sasuke and tries to bring him back. It is the events of this and the next box set that Naruto fans have been waiting to bring home, and these Uncut Box Sets aren't left wanting.
